Baihetan Hydropower Station is the largest giant water station under construction in the world, and this major project has created six world no.1 projects. Baihetan Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 16 million kW, and six technical indexes rank first in the world during the construction process. The single capacity of hydrogenerator is 1 million kw, the first in the world. The scale of underground caverns ranks first in the world. The cylindrical tail-water surge chamber is the largest in the world. The seismic parameters of 300-meter-high arch dam rank first in the world. The scale of non-pressure spillway tunnel group ranks first in the world. For the first time, low-heat cement concrete was used for the whole dam.

After the completion of the project, the annual power generation capacity will reach 62.443 billion KWH. Under the condition that the power demand of the power system is equally satisfied, the hydropower station can save about 19.68 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 51.6 million tons per year. Together with wudongdong, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba cascade power stations on the Jinsha River, the Three Gorges and Gezhouba hydropower stations will form one of the world's largest clean energy corridors.
